Palmer Amphitheatre, McGill University

The inaugural edition of the Kappy Lectures explored the themes of life and death through the creative and lighthearted lens of two of the most beloved mystery writers of our time, bestselling authors Louise Penny and Donna Leon. The event was a runaway success, filling the amphitheater, with standing room only.

Drawing together a diverse audience of book lovers, students, caregivers, specialists, and the general public, it demonstrated how caring, especially in these precarious times, is a radically important act. This rich confluence of worlds underlines the goal of the Kappy Lectures, to educate and entertain, but most of all, to bring to the surface our shared experiences, fears, and feelings on the universal subject of the end of life.
